Executive Board Bios
Our Mission Statement:
The mission of the Building Owners' and Managers' Association is to enhance the human, intellectual and physical assets of the commercial real estate industry through advocacy, education, research, standards and information.
BOMA Long Island Committees
BOMA-LI is active in many areas, and has created a variety of committees to focus these efforts. All members are invited to participate in one or more of the organization's committees. Please contact the committee chairs or email info@bomali.org for more information on how you can become active on a committee.
Government Affairs:
Chair: Brad Blumenfeld, Blumenfeld Development Group
The Government Affairs Committee shall work to improve conditions relative to the ownership and management of Commercial Real Estate, particularly where they may relate to municipal, state and federal legislative code, judicial and regulatory actions.
Utilities, Telecommunications and Technologies:
Board Liasion: Rudy Holesek, Apollo
The Utilities, Telecommunications and Technologies Committee shall work to improve conditions relative to the Ownership and management of Commercial Real Estate particularly where it may relate to public and private utilities and telecommunications and regulatory actions relating thereto.
Education:
Chairs: John Proscia, Sutton & Edwards and Diane Dorsi, RexCorp
The Education Committee shall enhance the level of professional knowledge available to members, sponsor informative programs on new and relevant information or topics of interest and shall actively work to facilitate and encourage participation in the programs of the Building Owners and Managers Institute.
Finance and Planning:
Chair: Richard Yaffe, R.A., Triangle Properties
The Finance and Planning Committee shall review Association Accounts, advise on the formulation of the yearly Association budget, dues assessments, financial matters and develop plans for long range growth and development of the Association. The Treasurer will be chairman of this Finance and Planning Committee.
Programs and Awards:
Chair: Brad Blumenfeld, Blumenfeld Development Group
The Program and Awards Committee shall work with the Officers, Directors and Committees to develop a series of programs of interest to Association members and the commercial real estate industry.
Membership and Nominations:
Chair: Stuart Walton, Greenway Plaza Office Park
The Membership and Nominations Committee shall identify, interest and nominate individuals for membership in the Association through a coordinated program of activities, and shall have as its purpose in the increase of membership and retention of existing members in conformance with acceptance standards thereof. This committee shall also select candidates for Officers and Directors and report their names to all members in writing at least thirty (30) days prior to the Annual Meeting or the meeting are which elections are to be held.
Communications and Public Relations:
Chair: Terri Cude, Wordflow Communications
The Communications and Public Relations Committee shall act as the public information resource for dissemination of information developed by the Association, BOMA International, or affiliated organizations. It shall in addition be charged with enhancing the public image, prestige and influence of the Association in civic and business affairs and publicizing the purposes, programs and activities on the Association to members, the commercial real estate industry and the general public.
The BOMA Long Island Executive Board:
President: Diane Dorsi
Ms. Dorsi has been with Reckson Associates, now RexCorp Realty LLC., since 1998 where she serves as Property Manager.
She started as an analyst for the Asset Management LI division, then moved into Tenant Work orders for Construction and became an Assistant Property Manager and then Property Manager.
Prior to Reckson, Ms. Dorsi worked for another Real Estate Company in Lake Success, which is where she discovered her interest in Property Management. In that position, she billed rents, escalation, energy, and worked closely with the banks on their $10 million Capital Improvement Budget as well as Construction Buildouts.
She graduated from St John's University in 1992, and received the BOMI designation of RPA in 2006.
First Vice President: John Proscia
Mr. Proscia organized Interactive Property Management Corporation, a full service real estate management company, during the recession of the early 1990's, when he devised a plan that enabled him to leverage his finance background and provide a unique management solution to lending institutions faced with commercial foreclosures. Interactive Property Management Corporation has since expanded the application of its management services and joined Sutton & Edwards Inc. to become their property management division under the new name Sutton & Edwards Management, LLC.
After graduating in 1973 from C.W. Post with a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting, Mr. Proscia joined Sackman-Gilliland Corporation, Garden City, as a staff accountant. His duties included servicing of Fannie and Ginnie Mae mortgages and establishing reporting requirements. In 1977, he began working with I. Wharton and Company, Great Neck, where he was appointed the accounting representative of eleven separate partnerships formed by five banking institutions to manage and work out eleven R.E.O. properties; including resorts, commercial and residential.
In 1979, Mr. Proscia was appointed Executive Vice President/Treasurer of Delco Development Corporation, Hicksville where he managed the accounting department responsible for multi-company management of regional malls, neighborhood shopping centers, office buildings and industrial parks. He also applied his diverse expertise in accounting to assist in obtaining millions of dollars of financing for a number of clients.
Second Vice President: Rudy Holesek
Mr. Holesek founded Apollo HVAC Corp., a mechanical contracting firm, in 1972. He continues as President of Apollo and its two affiliated companies with offices on Long Island and New Jersey. These companies employ more than 120 people who design, build and service HVAC systems in 10 million square feet of commercial, industrial and institutional buildings.
As both a business owner and resident of Long Island, Mr. Holesek understands the importance of energy conservation. His company has demonstrated leadership in energy conservation projects and has been recognized by LIPA in 2004 and 2005 for innovative systems design and implementation.
A member of the American Society of Heating Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Engineers and Air Conditioning Contractors of America, Mr. Holesek is also a member of the United States Green Building Council and on the Board of Directors for their Long Island Chapter.
Mr. Holesek is an instrument-rated Private Pilot and also serves as a volunteer pilot for Angel Flight NE.
Secretary: Terri Cude Principal of Wordflow Communications, Terri Cude has more than 20 years of marcomm experience both on the agency and client side. She specializes in branding and business development, utilizing collateral and direct mail, advertisements, trade show participation, websites and interactive presentations.
She began her career at a major NYC advertising agency, and within five years had risen to Senior Account Executive and Editor of Corporate Communications. She then served for several years as the Advertising and Marketing Director of a large manufacturing company, and now helms a graphic design and communications firm.
She received a Bachelor's Degree from Queens College, CUNY in 1983, and currently divides her time between Long Island and Greenwich Village.
Treasurer: Richard Yaffe, R.A.
Mr. Yaffe has served as Vice President - Asset Management of Triangle Properties since 1996. His responsibilities include overseeing all capital improvement projects, lease negotiations, tenant relations, acquisitions and financing. Prior to joining Triangle, he was a Project Manager for Superstructures, an architectural and engineering office in New York.
Mr. Yaffe is a Registered Architect and Real Estate Broker in New York. He received his Master of Architecture degree from The University of Michigan in 1989.
