Energy Policy Act of 2005

Learn about the Energy Policy Act (EPAct) and the new incentives for reducing building energy use, including new Federal tax incentives for lighting, lighting controls, HVAC, and the building envelope. The event will feature examples of the kinds of savings that Long Island companies are receiving for office buildings, retail facilities, manufacturing facilities, warehouses, auto/ truck garages and other properties.

The combination of energy cost savings, rebates and the new Federal tax incentives is causing companies to substantially increase energy-reducing building equipment investments.

Energy Market Overview:
How to Optimize your Energy Expenditures

One of the key costs for any landlord, especially on Long Island, is energy. On April 12, BOMA-LI hosts a discussion of current types of energy available, and how you can use a combination to reduce energy expenditures.

The meeting will include an overview of the energy market, including Fuel Oil, Natural Gas, Dual Fuel and Electricity, plus time to ask your pressing energy-related questions and discuss how BOMA-LI members can work together to reduce energy costs.

LIPA Commercial Incentive Programs

Long Island Power Authority (LIPA) will present information on their 2007 Commercial Construction Program, which offers technical and financial incentives to commercial/industrial customers for the installation of high efficiency equipment.

The discussion will focus on how the program works and why it is a win-win opportunity. Details will also be provided on new technologies and incentives added for 2007 as well as additional incentives available through LIPA for projects achieving Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification. LIPA will also present information on their Peak Reduction Incentive Program and provide an overview on the NY State Independent System Operator (ISO) Emergency Demand Response Program.

This year's Summer Social is a Garden Party at Carlyle on the Green in Bethpage, NY, right off the golf course. Food, beverages and great conversation are assured.

BOMA-LI members are welcome at no charge, and can bring one potential member to meet and get to know our members. Non-members can attend for $100 each, or if their company is a member they get a 20% discount off that fee. Pre-registration is required, with checks received by July 6.
